  • Thank You, Kapowsin!

Thanks to all our loyal fans that came out to the Kapowsin Tavern last night for our best show yet! We had a real Gullywhumper of a time! Traveling from as far away as Vashon Island, Lincoln City, OR, Juneau, AK, and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (no kidding!), our fans whooped ‘er up all night long. From ages 21 to 88, they were burning-up the dance floor like never before! Yee-haw!

Also joining us last night, was Ryan Dustin on bass, Mandy Weiler on the ever-growing percussion kit, and Allie Denzler – the most ferocious fiddle player to ever set foot in Kapowsin! All you Gullywhumper fans can look forward to seeing more of them in the future!

A very special thanks, too, to Joyce and Gary Young, owners of the Kapowsin Tavern (or the Kapowsin Alehouse & Grill, as it’s officially known). Thanks for continuing to host the Gullywhumpers’ music, and thanks for providing the community of Kapowsin with such warm, and welcoming character for the past 20 years plus! When your in Kapowsin, or on your way to Mt. Rainier, stop by the Tavern for a burger, or a beer – you’ll be happy that you did!

    Yah-hoooo!

  • Thank You, Port Townsend!

We had one rip-snorter of a show at Sirens Pub in Port Townsend Saturday night! The whole hillbilly band was there, playing with all our might. Thanks to Ryan Dustan for bringing his signature “sickly cow” sliding bass sounds, and Mandy Weiler for kicking out her tub-thumpin’ drum beats. The swampy spirit of Lake Kapowsin rolled down the streets of Port Townsend like the sweet smell of skunk cabbage!

    MUSICAL UPDATE:
After postponing our last recording date, we’re planning again to hit the studio in mid March. Then look for us at the fabled Kapowsin Tavern March 20th for what is promising to be one of our wildest performances yet! Ha-looooo!

  • Greetings from Kapowsin, WA!

Howdy, folks! Welcome to the brand new, official Gullywhumpers website!

This hallmark website is the debut of a brand new form of electronic communication: The Glog! (Gullywhumper blog!) {an invention of scientist, Barry Maxwell, at Swivel Studio}. We hope to let you join in on the all the fun we’ve been having on our journey through American folk music by allowing you to keep track of our musical progress, read stories of our fabled performances, and by letting you comment back as you please (“…you gullywhumpers are full sh*#!..”). The Gullywhumpers are nothing without our fans, so we hope you will make this Glog a regular part of your weekly entertainment! We intend to use the Glog not only as a means of keeping you updated on our musical events, but as an entertaining chronicle of our experiences, our love for American folk music, and as a vehicle for promoting local artists, events, history, and folklore (Bat-Squatch sightings). So, welcome to a brand new era in the “old, weird America,” and long live the Glog!

    MUSICAL UPDATE:

We’re currently working on some new songs for our live repertoire, and will be hitting the recording studio in a week-and-a-half. Look out for our upcoming album, “From the Shores of Lake Kapowsin.” Yee-haww!
